1km of asphalt, 10 turns, and a top speed (give or take) of 70kph, this is the Philippine longboarding destination nestled in Real Quezon.Set in the highlands of Quezon, this course has proven itself as a must go spot for any longboarder looking for a smooth asphalt hill to shred. As the Philippines does not have that many asphalt roads suitable for speedboarding competitions, this course is a godsend for the local downhill scene.
Last February, Ang Kilusan held a race lovingly called Captain Planet Camp. The event featured not just downhill speedboarding, but surfing, skimboarding, poi, and a yoga class as well. Though not the fastest or the most technical course in the current downhill course roster, it made up for the memories that it left those who were lucky enough to be there.
Below are reactions of individuals who participated in the said event.
With all the buzz surrounding the event, how was the experience for you in general?
Nervegasm: It was great ..even though we were late .. i'm still stoked with the freeride sessions.. and the people .. and so stoked with the final heat.. and i'm glad I made it there meeting new friends and friends from palumba.. awesome event..
Larry Enriquez: it was fun, it was fun to hang out out with old and new friends.
Miguel Cagalingan: surreal.. more than what i expected
Adi Wright: It was a great event, despite its long journey to take and traveling all the way from singapore ,its trully a worth while weekend get away and what i love is e culture and people whom are warm and friendly.
How was the course all in all? What did you like/hate about it?
Adi Wright: The course was awesome lot's of turn's , but only if the road's are nicely pave cause there's a few pot hole's and IF the course is long like 2km or more , it would be more exciting.
Miguel Cagalingan: the course was nice.. a little technical. with a hairpin... but very manageable except for the bumps at the start and end of the hairpin
Larry Enriquez: i liked the race course because it was full of switchbacks...
Nervegasm: the course is great.. butter asphalt just a few pothole which is easy to manage.. the carnage at the first and second turn was so fun.. i love the freeride experience on that spot..
What was the most exciting part of the course for you?
Adi Wright: The exciting part was a long right and hander turn than left, its very technical but i still do love it..
Miguel Cagalingan: hahaha! the finish line? was thinking of the after party the whole day...
Larry Enriquez: that would be free ride time, get as many rides you can have because the road is closed.
Nervegasm: the first turn.. fast tight .. and a bump heheh.. fun fun..
If the DPWH flipped and gave you the power to do whatever you want with that stretch of road, what would you add to it?
Miguel Cagalingan: girls stripping at every corner... pole dancing at the hairpin. tapos free beer sa finish line... seriously.. that would be a nice race.
Adi Wright: I guess i would skate everyday man , keep on learning, and spreading the stoked yo!
Larry Enriquez: fix the potholes
Nervegasm: fix the road.. goin' to the camp.. great for carving and chill ride..great view ..hehehe .. reminds me of those original videos..
If you were to rate the course on a scale of 1 to 10 in terms of technicality and speed, how would you score it?
Larry Enriquez: tech 7........speed 7
Adi Wright: I would rate is 5/10
Miguel Cagalingan: around 7 to 8
Nervegasm: definitely an 8 and a half..
Anything you would like to say to the organizers?
Nervegasm: awesome weekend event.. salamat sa stokas..
Larry Enriquez: good job and keep it up
Miguel Cagalingan: Fuck yeah!! you better repeat this event!
Adi Wright: I would like to say thanks to Ang Kilusan ,Dwle Driftwoodlocal, united skate shop, sindicato ,free energy coop etc to make such an wonderful event and pleasant stay for me ,made alot of new friend's and meeting friend's and i hope to see u guys in any upcoming events in future. :)
